I grew up just outside of Edmonton on an acreage in Namao. I went to school at University of Alberta (U of A) – initially starting in Nursing but then switched into Science and eventually applied for Medicine. I graduated from Medicine in 1996 and completed my Family Medicine residency at U of A as well. I moved to Lac La Biche, AB for the first three years of my medical career, which was an amazing way to just “jump right into it” and learn everything extremely fast. However, I missed my friends and family in Edmonton so I decided to move my family to Spruce Grove in 2001 and started practicing at Westgrove Clinic. I love being in the community as it allows me to still be “semi rural” with ER shifts, inpatient hospital work and delivering babies while still close to Edmonton.
The best part about delivering babies is seeing them grow up – although I am feeling a bit old now that babies I delivered are old enough to have their own babies! I have two children – my daughter is currently in University and my son is finishing high school. My husband Hiroki is an amazing support to all that I do and we spend all our free time looking after our acreage and its horses, dogs, cats and Koi fish.
