Dr. Zahra Saleh

I was born and raised in Edmonton and thought that I was going to stay here forever but many years ago, my educational journey took a different path. I started at the University of Alberta, where I completed part of my undergraduate Bachelor Degree in General Sciences. I then moved to Kingston and attended Queen's University for a year, studying Occupational Therapy. I decided I must not have been far enough away from home and jumped across the big pond to Dublin, Ireland, where I underwent my medical training and met and married an Irishman. Together, we moved back to Canada, where I completed my residency in Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa.

After graduating in 2012, I began a rural practice in Kemptville, Ontario, where I worked as a Family, Emergency, and Hospitalist physician, work that I absolutely loved. I also took on many positions within the hospital administration and served as a member of the Medical Advisory Committee for 8 years as well as President of the Medical Staff and member of the Board of Directors for 2 years at Kemptville District Hospital.

I am currently working as a locum physician at Westgrove Clinic and am very much enjoying working with the incredible physicians and staff. I am also working as a hospitalist physician on the Surgical Care Team at the Sturgeon Hospital.

My husband and I have two little boys who helped solidify our decision that it was time to come home to Edmonton to be closer to family and our very close knit support network. We moved in July of 2020 and have been working on putting down roots since then. Between my medical roles and my even more important full time job as Mom, my life feels very full and fulfilled right now. I look forward to re-exploring all of the beauty and magic that Alberta has to offer!
