April 1, 2021 - Holiday Closure

Westgrove clinic will be closed on Friday April 2nd (Good Friday) and Monday April 5th (Easter Monday).  We will reopen on Tuesday April 6th.  While we are away, you can still use our online booking tool to book appointments.  Happy Easter, we'll see you soon!

March 30, 2021 COVID-19 Vaccination booking for phase 2B

Phase 2B starts booking today!

Albertans born 2005 to 1957 (16 to 64) with eligible health conditions can get vaccinated in Phase 2B.

Bookings will open by birth year. Additional years will be added as more vaccines arrive.

  • Starting March 30: Those born 1957-63 can book through participating pharmacies in Calgary, Edmonton and Red Deer (more pharmacies will be added in coming weeks)
  • Starting April 5: Those born 1957-59 can book through AHS (online and 811)

Get vaccinated as soon as you can to protect yourself and those around you.   Vaccines are safe, effective and help prevent serious illness, hospitalizations and death.

March 30, 2021 Rules for Fully Vaccinated Peope

Until most Albertans are protected, fully vaccinated people must continue following all public health measures: no indoor social gatherings, keep 2 metres apart from others, wear a mask in public, wash your hands, and stay home when sick.

Once both doses take effect, you are less likely to become severely sick with COVID-19.   But we don’t yet know if the vaccine prevents vaccinated people from spreading the virus.  Alberta Health will continue reviewing emerging evidence on asymptomatic and variant transmission before they can safely alter public health guidelines.  Alberta Health will let Albertans know when rules for fully vaccinated people can be changed.

March 22, 2021  COVID-19 Vaccination for those 65+ years old (born 1956 or earlier):

Appointments are now open to all Albertans in phase 2A.  Appointments can be booked online, by phone through Health Link 811, or directly through a participating pharmacy.

Albertans who are over 65 can use the AHS online booking tool to schedule an appointment to be vaccinated with options for a time, date, as well as a window to book the second dose within the recommended 32 to 42 days.

Those over 65 may also call Health Link at 811 to book an appointment through a Health Link nurse.  Appointments can be booked for both the first and second doses.

Seniors must return to the same clinic to receive their second dose of the vaccine to ensure appropriate timing between doses and to help manage vaccine supply.

Family members can book on behalf of those over 65 who are eligible to receive the vaccine. They will need the Alberta Health Care number and date of birth of the person being vaccinated and can make the appointment from a desktop computer or hand held device.

Please check the AHS website for information and updates:   ahs.ca/covid19-vaccine

AHS Booking Site:  ahs.ca/covidvaccine

Feb 1, 2021 - Continuity of Care

Did you know that when a patient consistently sees the same family doctor and team, it can lead to better health? In fact, there is evidence-based literature that shows increased continuity or care, reported by patients, is associated with decreased mortality.

What is Continuity of Care? Continuity of care is about improving Albertans’ health through stronger, ongoing relationships with their family physician/nurse practitioner and team, increased information sharing and enhanced care coordination.

Continuity is Better for Patients.  When Albertans have a continuous, trusting relationship with a family physician and team, providers gets to know their patient’s story and become their medical home throughout their life.

The benefits of this strong relationship include:

  • Increased access to appropriate care when it is needed
  • Better health
  • Better quality of care
  • Improved care coordination
  • Improved sharing of information between care providers
  • Increased patient satisfaction

Important messages about continuity:

  • Visit your regular family doctor when you have a health-related concern or question
  • If your regular provider is unavailable, seek care from other members of the team or clinic who will then share information with your regular provider
  • If you need urgent medical attention from the emergency department, follow-up with your family doctor to continue any communication or treatment given in the emergency department
  • If your medical status changes, book an appointment with your medical home. They will help manage any changes and treatments that may be needed to help you get as healthy as possible quickly
  • Don’t have a family doctor? For tools on how to find one, visit Find a Doctor.

June 15, 2020 - In Office Appointments

Though we have returned to in-person patient care, it won't be business as usual, so we wanted to outline changes that you will experience during your visit:

  • Arrive at your appointment time, not before or after.
    • This allows us to limit the amount of people in our waiting room, and provide time to properly clean treatments rooms between appointments.
  • Everyone entering the clinic must wear a mask.
  • Do not bring anyone with you into the clinic for your appointment. If you have a family member or friend drive you to the appointment they will need to remain in their vehicle during the appointment.
    Exceptions include:
    • Those with mobility or memory issues, needing assistance (limited to one caregiver).
    • Guardians accompanying a minor (limited to one guardian).

  • You will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms multiple times:
    • COVID symptom screening will occur when you book your appointment and when you arrive at the clinic.
    • Patients who answer “yes” to any COVID symptom screening questions will not be allowed to enter the clinic, and will be directed to contact Alberta Health at 811.
    • Staff members are also subject to COVID symptom screening daily, and will not be allowed to enter the clinic if they answer “yes” to any of the screening questions
    • If you have had any of the following flu-like symptoms within the last 10 days, do not come into the clinic, call 811 or visit www.alberta.com/covid19:
      • Fever
      • runny nose
      • shortness of breath
      • difficulty breathing
      • cough
      • sore throat
  • We are doing everything we can to ensure a clean environment which includes regularly disinfecting high traffic areas.

We want to thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation.
