Dustin Moreau is a registered social worker and is excited to join the team at Westgrove Clinic.

Sometimes life can get overwhelming and knowing where to go for help is confusing. Dustin will help shine a flashlight in life’s dark moments to help you find your way; and when you don’t know what to do, he’s here to remind that you are not alone and will help you plan the next right step.

Dustin has over 15 years career experience working with people who are undergoing life challenges. His journey has helped him realize his true passion to help others which is why he was drawn to social work. He has been part of many committees, alumni associations, focus groups, and programs which focus on the same ethos he applies in his practice: by guiding people to their best selves while helping them overcome challenges in life.

Dustin generally uses a Narrative and Trauma-Informed approach to his practice, but also incorporates elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Systems Theory. His methodology can be summed up as ‘Our world influences our thoughts and our thoughts create our behaviors’. His Métis heritage also influences his approach as he focuses on a holistic view (mind, body, spirit, emotion, and social aspects) of each person. The overall purpose of his practice is to help people incorporate changes and adaptations into their life that works for each of his clients’ individual needs so that they can live the life they want and deserve.

Dustin’s education and credentials include a master’s degree (MSW) from the University of Toronto specializing in Indigenous Trauma and Resiliency;  Bachelor of Social Work degree with distinction from Dalhousie University (Halifax, NS) specializing in Policy and Social Justice Advocacy; and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University Edmonton majoring in Philosophy and Psychology.

When not at work, you can find Dustin engaging in all kinds of activities with friends and family. Being raised on a farm in Alberta, he enjoys anything to do with nature such as running, hiking, landscaping, gardening, and cross-country skiing. He also likes travelling- whether it be driving all over this beautiful country, going for mountain bike trail rides, or venturing and flying around the globe.
